Revisions to UF's Student Honor and Student Conduct codes are one step closer to being fully approved Monday following approval from a committee of the Board of Trustees.

In a conference call, the board's Educational Policy and Strategy Committee unanimously passed changes to the codes. There was no debate during the 15-minute meeting. The full board, which is UF's highest governing body, will vote on the changes in a Wednesday conference at 10:30 a.m.

The version of the changes that the committee passed was the product of about two months of negotiations between administration officials, students and members of Student Government.

Patricia Telles-Irvin, vice president of Student Affairs, said in an interview after the meeting that students voiced their opinions about the changes in several ways, including e-mail, Student Senate meetings and a student forum in August.

However, she said, Student Body President Kevin Reilly's communication of students' concerns helped her make the final revisions to the most controversial sections of the new codes, which include bans on kegs and drinking games.

She also noted efforts of the Orange and Blue Party, which launched a petition this month opposing a previous version of the changes. On Sunday, members of the Orange and Blue Party said, they were content with the final version.

Telles-Irvin said the new codes would not affect most students, who abide by the regulations.
