GPD arrests woman for hitting boyfriend with car

A woman was arrested after witnesses reported she intentionally hit a man with her car early Tuesday morning.

According to a Gainesville Police report, Areyouna Seita Brooks, 21, and her boyfriend, with whom she lives, were arguing at about 8:30 a.m. near 600 N.W. 36th Ave. when the man tried to walk away, the report stated.

Witnesses told police that Brooks, who was in a car, drove over a curb and into her boyfriend on the sidewalk, the report stated.

The man, whose name was not available, landed on top of the car's hood and ran into a nearby yard, the report stated.

According to the report, Brooks drove over the curb toward the man, but did not hit him again.

The man told police his girlfriend had tried to run him over.

He had minor injuries and was released on the scene, the report stated.

Brooks was arrested on charges of aggravated domestic battery and assault.

She said she did not wish to speak to police about what happened, the report stated.
