A UF graduate student's purse was reported stolen from the UF veterinary medicine library Friday morning, leading to an arrest.
Lien D'Hespeel, 23, told police she left her things unattended to use the bathroom. When she came back, a man was crouching over her backpack, a University Police report stated.
According to the report, when D'Hespeel noticed her purse was missing from inside her backpack, she confronted the man, who ran away.
UF Physical Plant Division employees in a car followed the man, who fled on a bike, and caught up with him at 1600 S.W. 16th Ave., the report stated. UPD arrived and arrested Legrand Perry, 47.
According to the report, D'Hespeel's purse was found in a bush a few feet away.
Perry told police he had been in the library doing research for his friend's dog that has rabies.
According to the report, Perry already has an active trespass warning from the UF campus.
