Though a few of them will not be in the same pool or on the sidelines cheering, the UF men's and women's swim and dive teams will be cohesive in thought and action.

This weekend, the team will separate to attempt to achieve success both home and away.

The more experienced men will travel to perform at the Dallas Morning News Classic today, and the women will compete at the Rutgers Swim Classic in Piscataway, N.J., today and Saturday.

Nine men - including senior Bradley Ally, junior Clark Burckle and sophomore Brett Fraser - will be representing the Orange and Blue in Dallas, while 13 women - including senior Jeana Bartell and freshmen Sarah Bateman and Teresa Crippen - will swim for the Gators in The Garden State.

Saturday, the bulk of both teams will face in-state rival Florida Atlantic at the O'Connell Center.

Both teams will hope to maintain perfection against FAU. The men are undefeated against the Owls in 11 tries, and the women have not lost in the teams' 12 meets.

The Gators faced the Owls this time last year and secured a win, with both teams winning by at least 45 points.

After a win each against Virginia following the holiday season, the teams are working toward a third victory this month.

But victory is not the only thing on the teams' minds.

At this point in the season, the coaches are finalizing who will represent the school in the Southeastern Conference Championship in February. The Gators still have a few opportunities to impress in order to make the cut.
