The Unite Party posted its platform online Monday night.

The platform, which has 15 points, addresses issues such as building a sustainable campus, parking problems and strenuous textbook costs.

"We have very innovative, cool ideas that will definitely make a difference on campus," said Ashton Charles, party spokeswoman. "A lot of ideas are recycled every election."

Some key ideas include adding motion sensors to dorm hallways and common areas to save energy, increasing the use of online class materials and creating a parking garage solely for students.

Charles said the Unite Party plans to take $2 from every parking ticket in order to pay for the new garage.

According to Charles, the party spent six hours a day for three days on the Reitz Union Colonnade gathering student input on white boards before talking ideas over with Senate candidates and completing the platform.

"We wanted to see what students were really concerned with," she said.

She also added that Unite Party presidential candidate Jordan Johnson, who is currently SG Senate president, has already started working with some people to get the ball rolling.

"These are tangible things that can be accomplished," she said.

In addition to the 15 key points, Charles said the party will develop college-specific platforms in the coming days.

The platform can be viewed online at the party's Web site, www.uniteparty.com.
