Leave it to the Alligator Editorial Board to argue gun rights on purely emotional rather than logical or factual grounds.

They pose a couple of hypothetical situations in which a concealed weapon holder wildly pulls out his or her gun and recklessly endangers the lives of others.

Never mind that concealed weapon holders have the lowest violent crime rate of any demographic in the U.S.

Never mind that Utah has allowed concealed carry on nine public campuses since 2006, and none of these colleges have reported a single instance of gun-related violence, accident or theft in that time.

Never mind that in order to obtain a concealed weapon license, one must complete several tests to prove one's proficiency and safety with the weapon.

Never mind that public universities are state properties, and concealed carry is permitted in movie theaters, shopping malls, grocery stores and many other very public areas.

Even if you view the Second Amendment as somewhat outdated (as do I), it is irrelevant to the subject at hand.

The government is inclined to legislate based on the Constitution, and until the Second Amendment is changed it is inclined to allow concealed carry in certain areas, public universities included.

It is hilarious to see concealed carry advocates labeled as "gun nuts" while those against it are the ones arguing against widely available statistics.

For every hypothetical you concoct where a law-abiding gun owner snaps and shoots up the place, I can point to cold hard facts.

Start brainstorming.
