A robber is still on the loose after he stole prescription medication from a 50-year-old man earlier this week.
The man was robbed at a parking garage across from Shands at UF on Monday, according to the University Police Department.
The suspect was described as a 15- to 20-year-old black man with long, black dreadlocks.
The alleged robbery took place around 3:30 p.m. between the first and second levels of Parking Garage 10 as the victim was leaving Shands, according to UPD. The suspect pushed the victim, who is not affiliated with UF, and grabbed a bag containing his medications, said UPD Lt. Robert Wagner.
"I think it was a crime of opportunity," Wagner said, adding the victim was not injured, and there was no mention of any weapon.
He said crimes like this can often be prevented.
"I would maybe consider, you know, walking around with a bag that's obviously got prescription medication in it as similar to walking around counting cash," he said.
The suspect is believed to be about 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 8 inches and 140 to 155 pounds. He was said to be wearing a "black, flat-billed cap, similar to a fedora, a black shirt and black shorts, according to a UPD press release.
Wagner asked anyone with information about the crime to contact UPD.
