Narrated by Phil Kegler
(Writer) Phil Kegler (Phil on the Hill) def. (Reader) Randall Abbott (Dead RAbbotts) 126.25 - 99.5:
Mr. Abbott talked a big game in his entry for the challenge but did not have a promising debut. Then again, what can be expected when he's facing sports editor Phil Kegler? Phil on the Hill rode a strong performance by Boston College's defense and Ole Miss WR Dexter McCluster with UF's own Tim Tebow and Jeff Demps providing support. The Dead RAbbotts were hurt by zeros put up by Florida WR Deonte Thompson and Arizona TE Rob Gronkowski.
(R) Joshua Levy (Joshua Levy) def. (W) Mike DiFerdinando (DiFer) 89.75-87.25: In a wow-what-creativity-you-put-into-your-team-names matchup, Levy and DiFerdinando engaged in this week's closest showdown. Both teams had two standout performances - Levy had Ohio St. QB Terrelle Pryor and Penn State's D while DiFer had USC's D and Oklahoma St. QB Zac Robinson. In the end, Levy's support cast edged DiFerdinando's, although neither owner can be too happy: these were two of the three lowest scores this weekend.
(W) Bobby Callovi (Jerry Hughes for Heisman) def. (R) Dave Medoff (Fourth & Short): 98.75-91:
The do-we-need-a-recount matchup still has us puzzled, although everyone's in agreement that CBSSports.com's fantasy interface is awful. Mr. Callovi appears to have lost according to the live scoring, but yet Jerry Hughes for Heisman got the W in the standings and in the schedule part of the league. For Bobby, running backs Jahvid Best (California) and Jonathan Dwyer (Georgia Tech) did most of the heavy lifting, helped by Texas' D. Fourth & Short apparently upon recount, appropriately, seems to have come up short despite decent weeks by Texas QB Colt McCoy and UConn D.
(R) Ben Volin (Rollin' with Volin) def. (W) Kyle Maistri (Alligator Army) 113-78:
In a Palm Beach Post-exclusive showdown, established beat writer takes down rookie correspondent. Rollin' with Volin rode a monster week by Texas WR Jordan Shipley along with a balanced team. Alligator Army was hurt by the small weeks put up by Washington WR D'Andre Goodwin, Texas A&M WR Ryan Tannehill and Florida K Jonathan Phillips.
(R) Zach Rogan (FBS Zach) def. (W) Mike McCall (Skip's No Quarter Swashbuckler) 137.75-112.5:
In a high-scoring, message-board-posting affair, Mr. Rogan posts the week's highest score behind monster 30-point performances by Penn St. QB Daryll Clark and Alabama RB Mark Ingram. Mr. McCall had three players score 20 points or more but was hurt by small weeks by Arkansas TE D.J. Williams, Georgia WR A.J. Jones and USC WR Damian Williams. It seems Mr. Rogan has a Facebook group about needing anger management but with a high-scoring team like this, he might not need any consoling.
