"This collection is pretty much the shit," announced designer Bobby K moments before the start of the last show of Gainesville Fashion Week Friday night.
Bobby K showed 43 original pieces that brought to mind the words Barbie, the '80s and Lady Gaga. Bobby's "I'm in love with a robot" collection featured lots of tight mini dresses, a swimsuit, a leotard, a coat, cocktail dresses and a few men's shirts. It was mostly made up of hot pinks, purples and blacks.
Mode Salon styled the Bobby K models' hair: many had a bow on top of their head made entirely out of their own hair. Others had pigtails or straight hair that lead to a teased bottom.
About 30 minutes before Bobby K's creations took the square runway, Dahlia showcased 20 models. Dahlia's styles had a chic but clean look to them. Some models wore jeans with plaid button-ups, birthday dresses and chunky necklaces. All wore electric blue eyeliner and romantic up-dos by Veda Salon.
With a full venue and a show that had to start an hour late due to a line at the door, it's clear that Friday night was the most successful. No surprise considering what Bobby K had in store.
