Five businesses were robbed of cash, credit cards and laptops in northwest Gainesville at about 9 p.m. Tuesday.

Herbert M. Webb Law Office, Countryside Dental Care, Cecile’s consignment shop, Helping Hands Chiropractic Center and the dental office of Dr. Patricia Shipman were ransacked, said Art Forgey, Alachua County Sheriff’s Office spokesman.

Police were called to Helping Hands Chiropractic Center, 4400 NW 23rd Ave., after an employee found the front door busted open.

Investigators discovered that four other businesses in the same block were also robbed.

Kim Russo, Helping Hands Chiropractic Center owner, said she went into the office after police notified her of the ransacking.

“Papers were all over the floor, and it looked liked it was vandalized,” she said.

Russo said they only stole about $100, and the business was open on Wednesday.

Forgey said police were looking into the robberies and processing evidence.
