Goats taken from owner after eating neighbor's rosebushes

The neighbor’s unruly animals were beginning to get her goat, so she had the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office take his.

ASO Rural Services Unit caught eight bothersome goats from the 2800 block of Northeast 71st Avenue Wednesday after one woman complained they were eating her rosebushes, according to ASO spokesman Art Forgey.

The goats were taken to the rural services animal farm, a 30-acre lot designed to hold livestock, Forgey said.

The owner had been warned about his repeat offenders in the past and must pay a $75 fee to have them returned, or they’ll be put up for adoption, he said.

The owner is not sure that he’ll be able to raise the money anytime soon, but Forgey is hopeful something can be worked out.
