Gainesville residents who walk with canes are advised not to lift them above their waist in the presence of law officers. Doing so may result in you being legally shot, or so argues Bill Cervone in his statement regarding Kofi Adu-Brempong.

His inability to see Keith Smith’s actions as brutal and excessively violent are indicative of his ineptitude as a State Attorney. I urge all in the community to not ‘put [this] issue to rest,’ but to seek alternatives to Bill Cervone’s illogical conclusions about the matter. Join the Justice for Kofi Adu-Brempong Facebook group to find out about ways you can help curb police brutality, bring justice to a victim, and change the culture of the Eighth Judicial Circuit.

Goals include an Independent Police Review Board, the improvement of mental health and crisis services, and a Grand Jury investigation of the incident.
