Another day of doubles dominance, another NCAA victory for the No. 3 Gators women’s tennis team (26-2), this time 4-0 over No. 29 Washington (12-7).

The No. 29 doubles team of freshman Lauren Embree and sophomore Joanna Mather were first to finish winning their set at court No. 2 8-0 over Lina Xu and Venise Chan.

The clinching win for the doubles point came from court No. 1 as freshman Allie Will and senior Marrit Boonstra defeated Denise Dy and Joyce Ardies 8-1.

Boonstra was not done playing the role of clincher.

In singles play, Florida led 3-0 as senior Anastasia Revzina, Embree and Boonstra were all close to winning in straight sets. Boonstra finished first with a 7-5, 6-4 win on court No. 3.

“To clinch the victory at my last home match was amazing,” Boonstra said.

Boonstra and Revzina will leave UF a combined 55-0 at home. The Gators next stop is Athens, Ga., another court where Boonstra has performed well.

When the Gators won the SEC Tournament in Athens in April, Boonstra was named MVP.

The No. 6 men’s tennis team (20-4) hopes to give its seniors, Antoine Benneteau and Daniel Cash, a similar sendoff in Sunday’s second round match against Auburn at 2 p.m.

Benneteau and Cash were both contributors to Saturday’s 4-0 win over South Carolina State (14-11).

In doubles, No. 8 Benneteau and junior Alexandre Lacroix were first to finish with an 8-1 win over Gabriel Meana and Radek Pivonka on court No. 1.

The doubles point was clinched on court No. 3 when Cash and freshman Bob Van Overbeek defeated David Grund and Peteris Vinogradovs 8-2.

In singles, Lacroix and Benneteau were the first two to finish with wins on courts Nos. 1 and 3.

“I think we did a good job today,” Lacroix said. “We were really focused in both doubles and singles. It was a quick match which was important because of the heat today and will help us be more rested for our match tomorrow. For me individually, I’m really happy with how I played in both singles and doubles.”
