Senior Legacy, a UF-affiliated fundraising organization, put a Slip ‘n’ Slide on the Reitz Union North Lawn from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday.

“It’s so hot out; it’s supposed to be 98 degrees,” said Bernadette Perez, a Senior Legacy staff member. “We thought it’d be a fun way to cool down.”

Senior Legacy usually targets graduating seniors, trying to get them in a “spirit of giving,” she said. For 2010 graduates, Senior Legacy asks for a donation of $20.10.

The money is used to support student services like the Reitz Union and the Career Resource Center.

Jesse Morgan, an advertising junior, wasn’t wearing a swimsuit on Thursday because he didn’t know about the water slide, but that didn’t stop him taking the ride.

“It’s not every day you get to slide down a Slip ‘n’ Slide at school,” he said.
