Levin College of Law has best bar-exam passage rate in state

When it comes to passing the bar exam, UF law graduates were the best in the state this summer.

According to figures released this week by the Florida Board of Bar Examiners, 86.8 percent of UF Levin School of Law graduates passed the July bar exam, making UF the best in the state.

Dean Robert H. Jerry said the school's curriculum prepares students to practice throughout the nation and offers students Florida-law-specific classes. About 75 percent of graduates take the bar exam in Florida.

The new rate is an increase from the 81.1 percent of students who passed February's exam and a jump from the 64.9 percent pass rate in February 2009, which ranked UF eighth in the state.

At Florida State University, 86.2 percent passed, and 86 percent of University of Miami graduates passed.
