My oversized Michael Kors crocodile-embossed leather black watch
My oversized Michael Kors crocodile-embossed leather black watch

Ah, the perks of a celebrity: exclusive events, free clothes, private planes and more. It’s hard not to envy their lifestyle.

However, you too can enjoy a slice of the privileged life — or at least accessorize like one.

The latest accessory obsession among fashionable celebrity women is the watch. However, this isn’t your mother’s ordinary watch. Actually this watch more closely resembles your father’s than anything else.

Taking another cue from menswear, celebrities have embraced the oversized watch trend. These large watches are being shown in all kinds of varieties from leather to gold and colors such as gunmetal and white.

Fashionable celebrity icons such as Ashley Olsen and Victoria Beckham have been spotted sporting the trend. Olsen is often photographed wearing an oversized two-tone gold and gunmetal watch while Beckham prefers a more classic solid tone Rolex.

The trick to pulling off the oversize trend is moderation. You don’t want to wear too many oversized accessories at once. Like Beckham and Olsen, try to stick to one or two statement pieces—such as the oversized watch and sunglasses.

You can find these watches in a variety of price points starting as low as $30 from retailers such as shockboutique.com to  more established (and expensive) brands such as Michael Kors and Guess.

One accessory I almost never leave the house without is my oversized Michael Kors crocodile-embossed leather black watch. It goes with almost everything, and very often puts the finishing touches on my ensemble.

So, the next time you’re getting ready to head out the door, remember to throw on your watch. Not only will you be on time, but you’ll be on time in style. Another case of fashion meets function.
