Gainesville man's Parkour skills featured on "Jump City: Seattle"

Gainesville resident Drew Drechsel will be sitting in Mother’s Pub and Grill today, watching himself on G4’s premiere of “Jump City: Seattle.”

The show, which features four teams competing head-to-head to become the first-ever Parkour championship team, will debut at 8 p.m.

According to Drechsel, the show will run for eight weeks, and in each episode, two teams will compete. There will be a speed round consisting of a relay through an obstacle course and a style round, in which team members get 45 seconds each to show off their best moves anywhere on the course. In each round, only three of the four team members compete.

Drechsel, who is a member of team Rogue, has been doing Parkour for about five years.

According to americanparkour.com, Parkour is “the physical discipline of training to overcome any obstacle within one’s path by adapting one’s movements to the environment,” and it’s more than just a sport to Drechsel.

“It’s the right to do what you want. To compete against yourself,” he said.
