When a team gives up six hits in a single game, the chances of

winning are pretty good.

But when it’s six hits in two games, the results can be downright

dominant.

The No. 2 Florida softball team (23-0, 2-0 SEC) showed no signs of

slowing down with two wins on the opening day of the USF Under

Armour Showcase in Clearwater.

With the lethal duo of Hannah Rogers and Stephanie Brombacher, UF

easily defeated Connecticut 9-0 before taking down Robert Morris

6-1.

Rogers quietly shut down the Huskies, allowing only a double, to

improve to 10-0.

The young righty needed only 33 pitches to get through four innings

as Ensley Gammel pitched the final inning.

Besides her two strikeouts in the circle, Gammel also made an

impact from the No. 7 spot in the lineup.

The versatile sophomore went 2 for 2 at the plate with a

season-high three RBIs.

The Gators jumped on the Huskies early in the first when senior

Megan Bush hit a three-run homer to left.

Bush later added an RBI single in the fourth, before Cheyenne Coyle

and Gammel hit run scoring singles of their own.

While Rogers only recorded two strikeouts, Brombacher filled the

stat sheet.

The Gators’ ace struck out a season-high 11 batters in her 13th win

of the season.

Although she surrendered a solo homer, Robert Morris managed just

three other singles against Brombacher.

UF got on the board with a big fourth inning when the middle of the

lineup did some serious damage.

After Kelsey Bruder doubled and Brittany Schutte singled, Bush

stepped up with another big hit as she knocked in Bruder with a

single to right.

While the powerful Bush was held in check, Kelsey Horton was

not.

Horton immediately followed with a long three-run shot to right,

her fifth of the season.

The Gators will take on Ball State at 5:30 p.m. today followed by

Nebraska at 8.
