Theatre Strike Force has arranged for one of the greatest improv teams in the country to perform this Saturday.
The Reckoning will be performing free of charge at 9 p.m. in the Reitz Union Room 282. All you have to do is show up.
As I come to the end of my second year with TSF, I’ve had many different directors and instructors. Whenever an instructor begins to teach long-form improv, he or she uses a video from The Reckoning as an example of exactly what to do.
Our instructors don’t ask us to imitate or mimic the group by any means. We are, however, expected to learn from the amount of trust and creativity that it leaves on stage.
The most impressive teams are those that have practiced to such a level that they can say or do anything on stage fearlessly. Players can make any move and their team members will accept it immediately, something that turns a good team into a mind-blowing team.
And to that end, the group consistently puts on one of the most impressive shows in Chicago, a city known for improv. Its members know how to make hilarious moves while completely committing themselves to their characters.
So, get excited, Gainesville! The Reckoning is rolling into town.
Did I mention it’s a free show?
