What is with the Bob Minchin column published on Friday? It’s like he doesn’t even try to understand what these women are going through. I will admit I am against abortions, but I at least try to understand why someone would do such a thing. How is a woman supposed to take care of a child if she gets paid a lower salary than a man? How is she supposed to take care of a child if child care costs are ridiculous? There are no American laws that give nursing women a break.

Everything is about some absurd idea that people are on their own and shouldn’t receive help when they desperately need it.

Yes, abortions disrespect the sanctity of life, but at least they make it easier for women, especially single mothers, to take care of their children.

Take Europe, for example, where women are given two months after giving birth to recuperate and are given adequate child care assistance by law. The foster care system in America is so lacking that most of the children in there aren’t going to college to get an education. So if you are going to say no to abortions, at least make that choice an easier one. Yes, society is on a moral decline, but that shouldn’t justify being cruel and denying aid to those who make mistakes.
