The Reitz Union's burger options are changing once again.

Cheeburger Cheeburger Express is vacating the spot previously occupied by Wendy's and paving the way for Burger King, which is set to open in fall 2011.

According to April 2011 meeting minutes from the Food Service Advisory Committee, the location failed to meet financial expectations and was closed.

Gator Dining Services acknowledged that the chain's pricing may be an issue for students.

The chain was trying to make adjustments to meet the needs of students, according to the committee's Sept. 2009 meeting minutes.

UF's Cheeburger Cheeburger was the first to have appeared on a college campus.

Some students were happy to see it go.

Timothy Gaffud, 21, said he never once ate at Cheeburger Cheeburger because he felt it was too expensive.

"As college students, how can you put gourmet menus in place of dollar menus?" he said.

Gaffud is not much of a fan of Burger King either, saying he felt their food is "nasty."

"It's the lesser of two evils," he said.

All attempts to reach Gator Dining Services were unanswered by press time.
