If you're a UF student, you probably had a crazy week full of first tests and assignments, accompanied by a pounding headache that just wouldn't go away. Aren't you glad for the weekend?
Being the first away game of the semester, many of you will probably be traveling this weekend, whether it is to the game in Kentucky, home or wherever the road takes you.
While you burn rubber with Gainesville eating your dust, don't forget you can still stay green when traveling.
Before you leave, make sure you unplug any items that will just sit plugged into the wall. Laptops, TVs, microwaves and any other appliances will still use energy even if they're turned off.
When you're on the road, there are many ways to optimize gas mileage, which helps you stay eco-friendly and keep cash in your wallet.
First, avoid stop-and-go traffic. You will consume much less gas if you drive at a constant speed or use cruise control.
The most gas efficient speed to drive at is between 40-45 mph. The more you speed, the more gas you waste, so think about taking a more leisurely pace to your destination.
Finally, make sure your trunk isn't too packed. The heavier your car is, the less efficiently it runs.
