About 100 artists will showcase their work this weekend at the fifth annual Winter Fine Arts Fair at the Tioga Town Center.
The fair is from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
Roz Miller, fair spokeswoman, said artists were selected by a jury.
Their works include photography, ceramics, glass, jewelry and oil and acrylic paintings.
Miller is on the board of the Gainesville Fine Arts Association and was on the original planning committee for the fair. Her mixed-media art is displayed for public viewing.
“I try to create things that are what I call a visual symphony,” she said. “Things that are dramatic, interesting, eye-catching and have texture.”
Mandy Macias, committee member and painter, said about 90 percent of the artists are local, but some come from as far away as Texas, Michigan and Georgia.
Miller said it’s good to have so much art in a small geographical area because people don’t have to go from city to city to enjoy it.
Several artists have returning customers, Miller said.
“People have an ‘a-ha’ moment where they walk by and see a piece and realize they have to have it,” she said.
