UF Board of Trustees Chairman David Brown has appointed the search committee to find the next president of UF.

Committee members, composed of trustees, faculty, students, administrators and stakeholders, will meet in August, according to a news release. Selection criteria will be completed by the end of the month but there is no deadline for completing the search.

Current UF President Bernie Machen, along with Marshall Criser, a former UF president, and Dean Colson, chairman of the Florida Board of Governors, will serve as senior advisors to the search chairman.

Brown, who is chairman of the committee, wrote in an email to students that the next president of UF will be a leader with integrity, passion and vision.

“This person will have the ability and experience to lead a complex, multi-faceted organization that is one of the most comprehensive university and healthcare systems in the country,” he wrote.

Potential candidates will be brought to campus to meet search committee members, community leaders, trustees and interested organizations, according to the release.

Machen announced in June that he plans to step down next year. Machen and Brown will agree when Machen will leave after a successor is chosen.
