The Gators capped off the SMU Classic in Dallas with a third-place showing. Florida tallied 289 points, which trailed first place USC’s 366 and North Carolina’s 292.5.

Senior Jamie Bohunicky, junior Kaitlin Frehling, and freshmen Natalie Hinds and Lindsey McKnight helped the Gators steal the final event of the meet.

The group took the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:32.84.

Junior Elizabeth Beisel, a 2012 U.S. Olympian, didn’t record a victory in any of the five events in which she competed.

She finished third in the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:45.55 and second in the 200 IM with 1:59.69. She also finished second in the 400 IM behind USCs Meghan Hawthorne by 0.38 seconds.

Hawthorne helped lead the No. 2 Trojans to the overall victory with help from teammates JasmineTosky and Haley Anderson. All three raced for USC in the 800 freestyle relay ahead of Beisel and company, who finished third.

Freshman Ashlee Linn stood out with a third-place finish in the 200 backstroke in 1:57:65. Hinds fell to 10th with 2:02.79.

On Saturday night, Gators freshman diver Emily Mosher finished third in a 3-meter board diving event with a score of 255.50.

Linn, McKnight and Hinds helped Florida finish third in the 400-yard medley relay.

Now the Gators’ men and women’s teams prepare for back-to-back meets in Athens, Ga., and Columbia, S.C., on Thursday and Friday.
