A Gainesville woman was arrested Wednesday night accused of stabbing a man in the back with a pocketknife.

Gainesville Police charged Larina Jones, 26, of 817 NE 17th Drive, with aggravated battery and tampering with physical evidence, according to a GPD arrest report.

The incident started at about 5 p.m. when Jones and Keith Lorenzo Singleton started fighting at the 8th Avenue Food Store, located in the 1600 block of Northeast Eighth Avenue, after she accused him of inappropriately touching her sister.

After the argument, Singleton got into his car and drove away. Jones chased the car and stopped it when she ran into the middle of the road.

They continued arguing, according to the report, until Jones pulled a six-inch pocketknife from her jacket and stabbed Singleton in the back.

Glenn Thaddeus Green was in the car with Singleton during the incident.

“I was scared,” he said. “I ain’t never seen anybody get stabbed before.”

Singleton called police and was later taken to Shands at UF, said GPD spokesman Ben Tobias.

After police arrested Jones, a camera in the police car recorded her taking out a marijuana cigarette and eating it, according to the report.

Police later booked Jones into the Alachua County Jail at about 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, where she remained Thursday night with a $15,000 bond.
