Voting for the Gainesville city elections is today.
Polls will be open citywide from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Ed Braddy, Scherwin L. Henry, Pete Johnson, incumbent Craig Lowe, Donald Shepherd Sr. and Mark Venzke are running for mayor.
In the City Commission District 4 race, Alfredo Espinosa, W.E. “Mac” McEachern and incumbent Randy Wells are vying for the seat.
The ballot also has a charter amendment that would change the date of city elections and terms of office, according to Alligator archives.
If passed, city elections would take place every odd-numbered year starting in 2017. The amendment would also extend mayoral and City Commission time in office to four years, starting in 2018, according to archives.
In order to cast a ballot, voters must present a current and valid picture and signature ID, according to the Alachua County Supervisor of Elections’ Office.
To vote in the City Commission race, students must live in District 4, which includes most of UF’s campus. Students who live on campus can cast their vote at the Reitz Union.
Other places to vote on campus include the Phillips Center for the Performing Arts, Doyle Conner Building and the Florida Museum of Natural History.
