Gainesville Police is looking for a man who gagged and threatened a woman at a southwest Gainesville apartment complex early Tuesday.

At about 2 a.m., GPD officers responded to the Campus Lodge apartment complex, located at 2800 SW Williston Road, after the woman called and reported a man attacked her as she was walking to her car in the parking lot, said GPD spokesman Officer Ben Tobias.

The man, wearing a black mask and gloves, walked up to the woman from behind and put a gag over her mouth. He then covered her eyes with his hand and put what the woman believed to be a gun to her head, Tobias said.

The man threatened the woman then forced her to the ground while he tied her hands together, Tobias said.

The woman kicked the man, ran back to her apartment and called police. A GPD officer and a police dog searched the area but couldn’t find the man.

Tobias said it‘s unknown if the incident was related to an April 15 robbery and sexual assault in which the suspect has not been located.

GPD is still investigating the case and requests anyone with information call GPD detectives at 352-393-7670, text an anonymous tip to 274637 with keyword “GPDFL” plus your tip or call the anonymous tip line at 352-393-7700.
