Admit it—whether you have curly or straight hair, you’ve always wanted to pull off that envied summer glow with beach-waved hair. Sure, celebrity hairstylists make beach waves look easy, but whenever you attempt the look, your hair turns out crappy.

Well, we’ve all been there.

But have no fear—there are a number of ways to get this look and the style of the waves vary. Not every option will suit everyone, so have some patience and play around with a few of them.

Option #1: For The Straight-Haired

First, divide your hair into two parts. Twist each section and add a hair tie. Straighten the twisted sections a few times until you think you’ve got the perfect wave in your hair. After, untie the twists, spray some hairspray to keep the waves in tact, then you should be good to go!

Option #2: For The Curly Ones

This step is fairly easy. Add a lightweight oil or cream into your hair. Pull back your hair into a tight bun and let it dry. When you let your hair down, waves should occur.

Another option for both hair types is to take a curling iron and curl your whole head (with NO hair spray) and run your hands through the curls, separating and tossing the curls apart. Then lightly spray at the end so the waves will stay in tact.

There are all types of sprays that can help you get beach waves as well. But, once again, it’s all about trial and error. You’ll never know what works for you until you try it. And one method is bound to work for you in the end.
