Auditions for reality TV show to be held on University Ave.

Gainesville party animals looking to make it on the silver screen may soon have their chance.

Brick City TV is seeking to produce a reality TV show based on the nightlife promotion scene in Gainesville.

Representatives from New York production companies Brick City TV and Blowback Productions will hold an open casting call today at Pledge 5 Foundation, at 1227 W. University Ave. The auditions will run from 8 p.m.-1 a.m.

Nick Burnett, one of the show’s producers, said he hopes to portray loud characters and interesting people on the show.

He said the program’s concept is to illustrate “the unique world of this small little town in northern Florida that has this gigantic, bigger-than-life nightlife scene.”

Burnett said Gainesville nightlife delivers “more high stakes competition and drama than one would imagine for a little college town.”

Blowback Productions has made more than 20 award-winning films that have garnered awards such as Emmys and CableACE awards.

Brick City TV will also be filming Wednesday through Saturday at events including Excision at Forum, Chateau at Sharab Lounge and Scene at Status Nightclub in downtown Gainesville.

Alex Kindred, a 21-year-old Santa Fe College business sophomore, said she is excited to attend the casting call.

Kindred said she goes out frequently and that the Gainesville nightlife scene is a significant part of her life.

“I think I’d be perfect for the show,” Kindred said.
