Gainesville Police arrested a UF football player early Saturday morning.

Grant Van Aman, a walk-on punter, was charged with driving under the influence on his scooter after he ran a stop sign, according to a police report.

Van Aman swerved and nearly fell off his scooter before righting himself, according to the police report.

According to the report, Van Aman refused to submit to a field sobriety test, but when he was asked to read the implied consent statement on his wallet, he “slurred his words and then told [the officer] that he didn’t know what that means.”

Van Aman walked on to the Florida football team last year after he graduated from Tampa Plant High School. He set a school record with 11 field goals in a season, but never got into a game at UF.

Florida coach Will Muschamp has not announced any team action against Van Aman.
