We’re only a few days away from fall. I know some of you may be very sad to see summer leaving but I think we’ve been way over due for some cooler weather. It’s that time of year when not only will the leaves start changing but so will clothes in preparation of lower temperatures. These are four trends to keep in mind next time you head out shopping to stay fashion forward this season.

Pastel coats

Fall will be a little brighter these next few months thanks to this trend. Buy an oversized jacket or coat in a pastel color like lavender, mint green or rose pink. It’s a fun and easy trend that allows you to stand out in a crowd. Keep the rest of your outfit simple so that you let the coat do most of the talking and contrast the lighter color with darker pieces.

Hats

This accessory was seen multiple times on runways for the fall and winter season. The beanie may be the first thing that comes to mind to wear, but why not top off your outfit with a fedora, bowler hat or beret instead? Whichever falls under style it’ll be a definite go-to accessory this season.

Over the knee boots

“The higher, the better” should be in your mind when it comes to shopping for boots. Pick up a pair with a high heel for a fall night out, or if you prefer to be a little more grounded one with a slight heel to walk around campus comfortably.

Emerald green

Pantone declared this color as the color of the year back in January and it’s been a big hit ever since, especially for the fall. The way incorporate this color into your fall looks is all up to you. Make this color stand out with a dress and tights or let it be a nice accent with a scarf or necklace.

Leather

This trend will never go away. Find a shirt with leather accents if you don’t want to go over the top or a sexy leather skirt with zipper accents to turn heads. Also, don’t stick with just the classic black. Be daring and wear this material in blue or a leopard print.
