Overnight oats make a great breakfast to-go

On Oct. 1, I began pulling out all of my sweaters, stocking up on Christmas-scented candles and indulging in pumpkin spice. But, it took just one afternoon run to remind myself that we live in Florida, and we are still far from cool weather. Being the winter-nut that I am and dreading the final weeks of Florida’s seemingly never-ending summer season, I’ve decided to embrace it. How? By bringing back this summer’s go-to breakfast recipe: overnight oats! Rather than opting for a warm oatmeal breakfast just to sweat through my shirt on my walk to school, the cold version is just as good and way more convenient.

So what exactly are “overnight oats?” Basically, it is a cold oatmeal recipe that makes itself overnight. That way, the mornings you oversleep, just hop out of bed, grab your container of delicious overnight oats from the fridge and make it to your 9:35 a.m. class on time – minus the hunger pangs. No waiting for water to boil, no messy pots to clean up… just grab and go!
