A Gainesville man was arrested Friday evening after he admitted to taking a car his mother left him to drive to work.
Henry William Leath III was arrested on charges of grand theft, according to an arrest report by Gainesville Police.
He told police he had permission to go to work in the car, but he kept it longer than he was supposed to.
“I came back, but then I left and didn’t come back because I didn’t want to face the music,” he said, according to the report. “I deprived her (of the car) for a couple of days ... Yeah, it’s stealing.”
As of press time, he remained at the Alachua County Jail with bond set at $2,500.

A Gainesville man was arrested Friday after he violated probation by moving to an apartment complex two doors down from a woman whom he began “watching” and making sexual gestures to.
Kevis Davon Johnson, 22, stared at the neighbor when she walked her dogs to the mailbox and made sexual gestures with his tongue on several occasions, according to a Gainesville Police arrest report.
On Friday, he pulled his shorts below his crotch “fondling his penis” when she passed by, according to the report.
He was arrested on charges of stalking and violating community control probation. He remained at the Alachua County Jail as of press time with bond set at $5,000.
