2014 National Signing Day is finally here, and UF’s day has already started with an important commitment.

At about 8 a.m. Wednesday morning, Immokalee cornerback J.C. Jackson sent in his letter of intent to Florida.

Jackson, the No. 21 cornerback in the country, was suspected of wavering on his commitment to the Gator in the last month, as Miami and Florida State were making late pushes for him. He took an official visit to Coral Gables in December 2013.

He surprisingly showed up on campus in Gainesville on Saturday afternoon to spend time with coaches and took in the Florida-Texas A&M basketball game.

Jackson was originally thinking of taking an official visit to FSU last weekend. He is talented enough to play both cornerback and safety, which works out well as UF’s cornerback corps are pretty crowded with Vernon Hargreaves and Jalen Tabor.

Letters of intent began being faxed in right at 7 a.m. Wednesday morning. The first one that was sent from Florida’s class came from cornerback Quincy Wilson.

Wilson, the 14th-ranked corner in the class, committed to Florida back in August 2013. Wilson will help build more depth at the cornerback position, as UF lost Loucheiz Purifoy and Marcus Roberson to the NFL Draft following the 2013 season.

Wilson had three interceptions during his senior year of high school at the University School in Fort Lauderdale.

The second LOI to be sent to the Gators football offices came from three-star wide receiver Ryan Sousa.

Sousa went to Lake Nona High in Orlando. He committed to Florida back in November 2013.

Sousa also received offers from Alabama, Georgia and Florida State among others. Sousa will look to be a playmaker for the Gator wide receiving corps, which lost its leading receiver Solomon Patton to graduation at the end of last season.

During his senior season at Lake Nona, Sousa averaged 17 yards per reception. Sousa will likely be used at the slot while at Florida.

Defensive tackle Khairi Clark, a Gators commit, also sent his letter of intent Wednesday morning. Clark, a Hollywood native, is the No. 21 player at his position in the Class of 2014.
