FYE: Avengers assemble at San Diego Comic Con

Everything happens at San Diego Comic Con, and everyone who’s anyone is in attendance. This past weekend, most of the Avengers assembled for a massive panel in the famed Hall H and released a sizzling batch of information to patch us over until May 1, 2015.

“Avengers: Age of Ultron” is of course the biggest thing on everyone’s radars. 277 days away as of this post, “Age of Ultron” begins a new phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe storyline, with the Avengers teaming up to battle the sentient robot known as Ultron (James Spader). Also appearing in the film are Paul Bettany as JARVIS/The Vision, Elizabeth Olsen as the Scarlet Witch, and Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Quicksilver.

In case you're wondering: the Avengers’ Quicksilver is a different actor than X-Men’s Quicksilver because the franchises are owned by two different companies.

Comic Con attendees were treated to a humorous clip where the Avengers took turns trying to lift Thor’s hammer Mjolnir. Of course, the fun doesn’t last for long. Robots soon attack, in true Marvel style. There are detailed spoilers available or those who care to surf the Web to find them.

Marvel also announced the release dates for their next five years of films. After “Avengers,” keep a look out for “Ant-Man” on July 17, 2015, “Captain America 3” on May 6, 2016 and most likely a “Doctor Strange” movie on July 8, 2016. There are release dates, but not titles, confirmed up to 2019. Rumors abound of a standalone “Black Widow” movie, “Thor” and “Iron Man” sequels, a “Guardians” sequel, and maybe even a new “Hulk” movie.

Next up: The Guardians of the Galaxy on Aug. 1, a possible “Doctor Strange” casting announcement, and more released movie titles. The possibilities are endless. But we do know that Marvel’s sticking to their two-films-a-year track record, so more awesomeness is definitely in store.
