Next year will be at the movies because dozens of sequels and reboots are scheduled to premiere. Here are 10 giant sequels coming out in 2015 stirring plenty of buzz already:
1. “The Woman in Black: Angel of Death” – Jan. 2, 2015
The sequel will take place 40 years after the first haunting at that creepy house. This time Daniel Radcliffe is nowhere to be found, but Helen McCrory will be a familiar face.
2. “Fast & Furious 7” – April 3, 2015
Body doubles, stunt doubles and CGI will cover the tragic loss of star Paul Walker in the seventh installment of the “Fast & Furious” series. Two of Walker’s doubles are his brothers, Caleb and Cody.
3. “Avengers: Age of Ultron” – May 1, 2015
The Avengers will team up again to face a mortal enemy with the help of other characters from the massive Marvel universe.
4. “Jurassic World” – June 12, 2015
We don’t know the plot yet, but Chris Pratt has been cast. There will also be, presumably, dinosaurs.
5. “Terminator: Genisys” – July 1, 2015
Arnold Schwarzenegger rides again, and this time the Mother of Dragons, Emilia Clarke, will join him. The plot is still undisclosed, but it’s sure to involve the big guns.
6. “Magic Mike XXL” – July 1, 2015
There will be more stripping, more jokes, and more Channing Tatum. What’s not to like?
7. “The Fantastic Four” – Aug. 7, 2015
20th Century Fox is rebooting the series, so it can hold on to the copyright. OK. Fine. More superheroes.
8. “Bond 24” – Nov. 6, 2015
In typical 007 style, nearly everything about this film is undisclosed. Daniel Craig will return as our favorite spy with a rumored Dave Bautista as his newest nemesis.
9. “Star Wars: Episode VII” – Dec. 18, 2015
J.J Abrams will be the captain of the Star Wars comeback and launch the saga 30 years past “Star Wars: Episode VI – The Return of the Jedi” into the great unknown.
10. “Mission: Impossible 5” – Christmas Day 2015
Tom Cruise will return to what he knows as superspy Ethan Hunt in MI’s fifth reprise.
Next year also promises sequels “Kung Fu Panda 3,” “Hotel Transylvania 2,” “Alice in Wonderland: Through the Looking Glass” and the “Hunger Games” finale. Sequels for the “Avatar” and “Pirates of the Caribbean” series are also in the works.
One thing’s for sure, there will definitely be a lot of familiar characters and plots to wade through.
