Reitz Union job fair, opportunity for international students

Nadia Blaszczyk has been in America for two and a half weeks.

“I want to travel as much as I can, and traveling is not the cheapest,” Blaszczyk said.

A junior taking classes for one semester at UF, she majors in American Studies back home in Poland.

Today, the 21-year-old will attend the Career Resource Center’s part-time job fair, which will feature 38 employers from UF departments and private companies.

The event will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Reitz Union Breezeway.

“The UF Career Resource Center is dedicated to creating connections for its students,” said Jasmin Robinson, assistant director for recruitment services and events at the CRC.

“We just want for students to be aware of this opportunity,” she said.

Despite the large pool of potential employers, Blaszczyk said she has limited options.

She’s an exchange student without a social security number, so she can only work on campus for a university department.

“I want to see what UF is offering,” she said. “As an international student, I want to see the requirements and offers.”

Robinson expects anywhere between 800 and 1,000 students to stop by the fair.

She said students should dress casually and bring an updated resume with them.
