Gainesville Police arrested an Ocklawaha man Wednesday afternoon after police said he drove with more than 70 grams of methamphetamine oil in a mobile laboratory.

At about 9:45 a.m., Daniel R. Jones, 37, followed a car too closely on State Road 93, causing authorities to pull him over, according to a police report.

Jones’ hands shook as he handed an officer his driver’s license, and a police dog smelled drugs outside Jones’ truck after he refused a search, according to the report.

The Domestic Highway Enforcement Task Force searched the truck before seeing possible meth lab supplies, according to the report.

They stopped to let a Clandestine Laboratory Response Team take over the possibly explosive materials, according to the report.

Authorities found a gas generator, tubing, lighter fluid and tinfoil, along with a zip-locked mask and other supplies commonly used to make meth, according to the report.

The team also found a glass jar filled with about 71 grams of meth oil, according to the report.

Police arrested Jones on charges of possessing drug paraphernalia, possessing meth with intent to sell and trafficking more than 14 grams of amphetamines.

Authorities took him to the Alachua County Jail where, as of press time, he remains in lieu of a $95,000 bond.
