As finals draw near, students can take a break from studying to make holiday crafts, taste free wine and watch live musical performances. Here’s what’s happening before exam week:

Bright and Bubbly

On Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Lucky’s Market is hosting Bubblyfest: A Holiday Tasting Fair. Attendees can taste free bubbly wine and samples of in-house holiday specials like holiday ham, said Malia Billman, the marketing manager at Lucky’s Market. Local musician Ricky Kendall will perform at the event.

Brr-lesque

The Market Street Revue will perform a holiday edition of its monthly show to an 18-years-and-older crowd Dec. 12 at 8 p.m. Performers from near and far will dance, drag and strip at Market Street Pub and Cabaret. Mark Dixon, who goes by RamCat Jackson onstage, will host the event dressed like the Grinch and tell "terrible jokes." Tickets are $10 for general admission and $12 for a guaranteed seat.

Fuchs and the Sound

More than 300 performers, including students from UF’s Concert Choir, UF Women’s Chorale and UF Symphony Orchestra will harmonize holiday classics for the Phillips Center for the Performing Arts crowd Dec. 6, as part of the annual "Sounds of the Season" show. UF President Kent Fuchs, capping off his inauguration week, will also take the stage to narrate Longfellow’s "Christmas Bells." Tickets are free.

My Brother's Keeper

Children will play Christmas carols to help end children’s cancer at the Phillips Center for the Performing Arts on Dec. 13 at 4 p.m. Alachua County Youth Orchestra will perform as part of its annual winter concert, presented by Stop Children’s Cancer. A second, different show will begin at 7:30 p.m. Tickets to the first show will cost $12 for general admission and $6 for children 12 years old and younger. The second show is free.
