A UF student was arrested Sunday morning after police said he fought them outside Fat Daddy’s Bar on West University Avenue.

At about 2 a.m., Gainesville Police and UF Police officers stood in Midtown when Justin Timothy Childs, 22, began to fight with a female officer on the sidewalk, according to a police report.

Childs said the officer punched him in the face, and his eye was bleeding heavily when the two were separated, according to the report.

When more officers arrived, they told Childs to calm down and wait for paramedics. Instead, Childs became upset and took his shoes off, according to the report.

Childs then chucked his shoes at the female officer’s feet before pushing another officer’s shoulder, according to the report.

It took several officers to handcuff and arrest Childs, who continued to resist. At one point, Childs spit blood on police, according to the report.

Police arrested Childs on two charges of battery on an officer and one charge of disorderly conduct. Authorities took him to the Alachua County Jail where, as of press time, he remains in lieu of a $205,000 bond.
