Gainesville Police reported Thursday that 4-month-old Faith Swilley, who was critically injured in a car accident Easter Sunday, died at UF Health Shands Hospital.

On Sunday afternoon, Taylor Swilley, Faith’s father, veered into an oncoming lane of traffic on State Road 26, striking two cars head-on, Gainesville Police spokesman Officer Ben Tobias said.

The collision forced all three cars off the road and sent nine people to the hospital.

Later that day, 6-year-old Steven Morton died from his injuries. Since Steven’s passing, his uncle started a GoFundMe page to raise money for the funeral.

As of press time, 141 people had donated a total of $8,020.

Taylor Swilley, 20, posted a message to Morton’s family on his personal Facebook page.

“I don't know who the immediate family is of the boy who passed away in the wreck on Sunday but I hope they see this,” he wrote. “I want to give my condolences and tell them how deeply sorry I am that this accident happened.”
