After 25 seasons and 27 national championships, Florida athletic director Jeremy Foley is retiring.

Foley, the longest-tenured athletic director in program history, announced the decision to retire on Monday. He will officially step down on Oct. 1.

“As difficult as a decision it has been to make, I know the time is right,” Foley said in a release.

Foley is the only athletic director in NCAA Division I history to win multiple national titles in both football and basketball. In addition, UF has claimed the Southeastern Conference All-Sports Trophy, given to the school with that year’s most successful sports programs, in all but one of his seasons as Florida’s athletic director.

Florida’s 27 national titles under Foley is tied for the most among any active Division I athletic director.

After his retirement, Foley will remain with Florida as Emeritus Athletics Director.

“I firmly believe my time as athletics director is ending so that I can move into the next phase of my life,” Foley said. “And I eagerly look forward to this next phase.”
