After police pulled him over Monday, a Gainesville man was found with a loaded handgun and a potpourri of drugs in a “Dora the Explorer” lunch bag, Gainesville Police said.

At about 2:22 p.m., police pulled over Johnny Lavail Lee Jr., 33, in the 2200 block of SW Archer Road under the suspicion that his windows were illegally tinted, according to a police report.

While approaching Lee’s car, police smelled marijuana coming from inside, which warranted further searching, according to the report.

During the search, police found 5.7 grams of weed in Lee’s center console. In the back seat, a loaded .40 caliber handgun was hidden inside the “Dora” lunchbox. Elsewhere in the lunchbox, police found crack cocaine, four MDMA pills and two oxycodone pills, according to the report.

There was also a bag with an unknown gray powder that the Florida Department of Law Enforcement will test, according to the report.

In Lee’s front pockets, police found $1,144 in cash, ranging from $1 bills to $100 bills, according to the report.

Police arrested Lee on charges of possessing a firearm as a convicted felon, two counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, two counts of possession of a controlled substance and driving with a suspended license.

Authorities took him to the Alachua County Jail where he remains, as of press time, in lieu of an $80,000 bond.
