Taylor Tomlinson, the Gators' lone senior on the team, finished the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge at 9 over par, good for a tie for 23rd.

Florida women’s golf coach Emily Glaser knew the field at the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge would be tough. She knew she needed someone on her team to step up.

Sophomore Carlotta Ricolfi delivered amid cool temperatures in Palos Verdes, California, on Tuesday.

Ricolfi shot 3 over during Round 3 of the event to give her an overall score of 6 over, good enough for a tie of 11th place. However, the rest of her teammates couldn’t pick up the slack.

Florida finished seventh out of 18 teams in the tournament, moving down one spot from Round 2 of the three-day tournament. The Gators carded a final round score of 301 (+17) and an overall score of 38 over.

Senior Taylor Tomlinson followed Ricolfi in the standings, going 3 over in the final round. She moved up 10 spots from the second day of the tournament, but finished the tournament with an overall score of 9 over, good for a tie of 23rd.
Sophomore transfer Sierra Brooks tailed Tomlinson, putting forth a final-round score of 7 over which moved her down 17 spots from Round 2.

Brooks couldn’t replicate the success she found in her win last on Jan. 29 at the Florida Challenge in Lecanto, Florida, shooting 6 under to help UF finish second as a team.

She ended Tuesday’s competition with a final score of 11 over, putting her tied for 34th.

Following Brooks was sophomore Marta Perez, who finished her final round with a score of 4 over and an overall score of 13 over. She moved up nine slots in Round 3 to finish tied for 41st.

Rounding out the Florida scoring lineup was redshirt freshman Elin Esborn. Esborn, coming off an excellent performance in the Florida Challenge in which she shot 4 over, was moved into UF’s scoring lineup for this weekend’s event.

However, she didn’t find the same success she did in Lecanto, finishing the final round with a score of 25 over, a mark that put her in 82nd place.

“The course played difficult today as you can see from the scores,” Glaser said in a release. “We missed an opportunity to pass a lot of people by shooting a decent number.”

Florida travels to New Orleans, Louisiana, on Sunday to compete in the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate Golf Championship.
