Start planning your cheesecake orders now. The Cheesecake Factory is coming to Butler Town Center.
Deborah Butler, the Butler Enterprises president, officially announced that The Cheesecake Factory will open in fall Gainesville at a press conference on Friday.
The 8,000 square-foot restaurant will be located at 2851 SW 35th Drive, next to Whole Foods and behind Grub Burger Bar, Butler said.
The Gainesville Cheesecake Factory will join 16 other Florida locations, with the closest in Jacksonville.
“Look at what we have today compared to when I was a kid,” Butler said. “We’ve been a city on the rise.”
The restaurant will join a variety of other restaurants and shops, such as PF Chang’s, which opened Sept. 3.
City Commissioner David Arreola said the introduction of The Cheesecake Factory means that franchises think the city is able to support business.
“It shows that the purchasing power of the Gainesville market is attractive,” Arreola said.
The Butler Plaza Town Center is still in development but will eventually be a mixed-use center for people to walk around and shop, Arreola said.
Lillian Connell, a 19-year-old UF business administration sophomore, said The Cheesecake Factory is her favorite restaurant, and she is excited about the new addition.
“My favorite cheesecake is the Oreo because it’s just so good,” Connell said. “I’m going to be going there a lot.”
The Cheesecake Factory will be opening in the Butler Town Center at 2851 SW 35th Place next to Whole Foods and behind Grub Burger Bar in the fall.
