A Waldo man was arrested Monday in connection to an incident that took place the evening of May 23.

Brian Thomas Bay, 51, drove by an acquaintance’s home while she was talking to another person on the front porch. Bay approached the porch and began arguing with the woman who was at least three months pregnant at the time, according to a police report. The nature of the argument is not listed in the report.

When the woman opened the screen door to the porch, Bay picked up a 4-foot metal beam from the yard and approached her. Bay swung the beam at her while calling her expletives, according to the report. She was able to block the beam with her hand and was left with small cuts.

The woman followed Bay out in the yard reminding him she was pregnant. Bay responded, “Not for long,” and continued to swing the beam at her abdomen, although it was reported it didn’t hit her. Bay left after law enforcement was called.

Bay was charged with aggravated battery. He remains in jail in lieu of $50,000 bond.
