Friday the 13th might be filled with bad luck, but there is always one unique perk: discounted tattoos.

Getting cheap tattoos on Friday the 13th has been a national tradition since the mid ‘90s, according to Vice. Tattoo parlors in Gainesville are keeping up with this custom by lowering their prices for the day.

At Anthem Tattoo Parlor, the cost of tattoos starts at a minimum of $60. The shop will have 14 flash sheets and more than 100 designs for patrons to choose from.

The parlor is located at 230 NW 2nd Ave. and is open from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Mike Salay, Anthem Tattoo Parlor owner and artist, said having Friday the 13th sales is a tradition for his parlor.

“We do it every Friday the 13th. We’ve always done it. We consider it customer appreciation, giving back to the community for choosing us as a tattoo parlor,” Salay said.

The artists at Bodytech Tattooing and Piercing created a custom flash sheet consisting of red and black tattoo designs. Each tattoo costs $40 and can only be placed on arms and legs. Bodytech Tattooing and Piercing is located at 806 W University Ave. and is open from 11a.m. to 1 a.m.

While Wunderland Custom Tattooing is not directly celebrating Friday the 13th, they are still reducing their prices on Friday and Saturday in honor of their four year anniversary.

A selection of special anniversary designs can be found on their Facebook page. Each costs between $50 and $150, depending on the size, placement and color of the tattoo.

Wunderland Custom Tattooing is located at 235 S Main St., and is open from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.
