Alachua County reported eight new positive cases of COVID-19 since yesterday morning, bringing the total to nearly 80.
The Florida Department of Health confirmed the county now has a total of 79 cases, as shown by the department’s online dashboard. According to a daily report from the department, the latest confirmed cases are all Florida residents:

25-year-old male
The online dashboard, which has been steady in its inconsistency with data, shows that the county has 11 hospitalizations, according to the dashboard tab that shows Florida cases. However, the tab that shows county cases only shows 10 hospitalizations for Alachua County.
With the number of confirmed cases doubling every three days, Florida is expected to see tens of thousands of infections in the weeks to come, according to an analysis from the Tampa Bay Times.
Today, Florida’s positive cases reached 5,473, with 5,276 being Florida residents.
