A woman was arrested by Gainesville Police Sunday after repeatedly driving her car into Hamlet Cove Apartments.

Vicaylah Johnson, 22, of 6900 SW 21st Lane was charged with aggravated assault, criminal mischief and leaving the scene of an accident Sunday evening.

Johnson was overheard having an argument outside Hamlet Cove Apartments at 3010 SW 23rd Terrace around 10:30 p.m. According to a police report, she intentionally put her car into drive and crashed into the front end of the building, resulting in about $20,000 worth of structural damage.

The impact forced the front door open of one of the apartments, and three victims went to see what happened, according to the report. The report said Johnson then put the car in reverse.

However, Johnson then drove her car toward the victims a second time. The victims weren’t struck, the report states.

Johnson put the car in reverse and crashed into a parked car, the report said. She was identified by a victim who knew her personally.

Johnson was released from Alachua County Jail Monday with a $50,000 bond.
